Buying accounts
My friend really likes this game, and he wants to get it. However he doesnt have 50 bucks to spend. So I just thought can he buy a account and just use one of my discs? Its perfectly legal as he is buying a cd key for a game. We live in the US. I was wondering where it would be possible to do this. As I no i have seen the option to buy accounts but i just dont no where

You should note that buying someone else's account is against the EULA so if ANet catch's you with someone else's account that account will get banned and you might even possibly face legal action (not sure about the legal action, but the account will be banned for sure if found out).
if you want to legally buy an account, go here: http://www.plaync.com/store/gw_purchase.html Just click the link at the bottom to buy the account form PlayNC. you will need a playNC account to purchase from them however. also it is perfectly legal to use your CD's to install the game on his computer. However, it is not legal for him to use your account at all. If he wants to legally buy the game he will have to buy a CD-Key from PlayNC and not from eBay. He doesn't need a disc once the game is installed. HOWEVER...why not do a search for Guildwars on Amazon? A quick on netted me a $40.00 version -new-. If you can shell out 30 bucks for a CD key, why not just BUY it?

Not without going against the rules. Tell your friends to save his money for a little bit longer and then just buy the game and support the company.

you are buying an account which is totally on their servers not the code you can burn on the cheep. the discs in the box are a convenience for dial ups but not needed. you are paying for the account not the box |

I haven't seen where you can just buy an account key at this point in time, nor is it going to be cheap unless you can find an unactivated key on eBay or similar sites. I wouldn't risk buying an account that has already been used or activated. Not only is there potential for being ripped off, but as mentioned, is against the EULA which would subject the account to being closed.
I would think that Anet would offer account keys at some point in the future for those of us nuts who want more than one account without having to buy a box for each one. The CD's are meaningless once you have the game installed on your system - it's the account keys that allow you to play. Any account can play the game on any computer with the client installed. On a similar note, anyone know where we can get the preorder keys and add them to an existing account? I'm curious to see what the other bonus items are - I have the basic Censor's Icon, and know there are several other items out there depending on where the preorder was purchased. Hanok Odbrook - please see the link I posted earlier in this thread. You CAN buy just CD-Key's already at PlayNC. you don't need to buy the box for new keys or even to install the game. You can buy and d/l the game completely online if you so wish to, as well as being able to buy just the key's for new/more accounts.
as for the pre-order key's, you can't get them legally anymore. The only way would be to get them from some other player who already has it.. but thats against the EULA and thus illegal. Last edited by Kamatsu; Jul 22, 2005 at 01:45 AM // 01:45.. Reason: spelling correction. |

The cost of the CD-Key by itself and the CD-Key+Box is the same.
So your better off buying the CD-Key+Box. I brought the Box for ??17.99, which is $31 in US at www.play.com You can probably oversea ship it. Dunno why people are forking out $50 for this. |

If you purchase someone's account, you won't need to buy the box OR a CD Key.
You can download the client for free and just use the purchased account to play. It is against the EULA (because you're depriving Arenanet of money, lmao), but honestly, what are the chances of getting caught? Unless the seller snitches on you and you're really really bad at coming up with a defense. Just do us all a favor and PRACTICE before you go rushing headlong into high-level Arena gameplay.... -sam P.S. I seriously doubt you'd face legal action. Legal action is extremely expensive. Why pay a lawyer $120,000 for a $50 game? The worst they'll do is ban you. |
